Having a Will, Trust, or well-thought-out estate plan will help your loved ones pass the torch from you to them in a seamless manner.  Many people do not think they own enough assets to even bother drafting a Will.  This is rarely true.  A well-drafted Will can ensure your estate passes onto your loved ones and also take care of situations where you might own something that you donโ€™t even know you own!  Yes, that happens.

Oftentimes, individuals try to draft their own Wills in an attempt to save a few dollars.  More times than not, these self-drafted Wills leave gaping holes, or are flat-out invalid.  It is worth spending a few dollars to have your legal documents properly drafted.  If done correctly, they can cover a variety of situations for years to come.

For my clients, I draft a โ€œWill Packageโ€ for a flat fee.  This is a combination of four documents needed while you are alive (Statutory Durable Power of Attorney, Medical Power of Attorney, Physicians Directive, and HIPAA release), and one document needed at death (Last Will and Testament).  Together this package contains almost every document which could be needed if you were alive but unconscious, or deceased.

Wills and estate planning are two of the most neglected items on most peopleโ€™s โ€œto-doโ€ list.  Put yourself first.  Meet with an attorney.  You donโ€™t have to use me, but you should use an attorney you trust.  It will be one of the best investments you ever make.  (And youโ€™ll sleep better at night).
